The rental program at Appalachian State University is only available for on campus undergraduate students during Fall and Spring semesters. All textbooks not on the rental program must be purchased. Appalachian State University Undergraduate Textbook Rental ProgramGeneral Information: Textbook rental was started in 1938 when the school was known as Appalachian State Teachers College. At that time the rental fee was $5 per quarter and for freshman only. The rental program has been in existence since that time for all but one year when the program was discontinued and then reinstated the following year. The rental program has evolved into its present form and is managed by the University Bookstore.The University has supported the rental program for the benefit provided to students making decisions about which college to attend. Over the years the fact that the University offers this unique program has been appealing to both parents and students in making their decision. Over the course of four years the rental program saves students hundreds of dollars. The rental program essentially offers a scholarship to every undergraduate student that attends Appalachian State. |
